Golden Nugget

Golden Nugget CasinoThe Golden Nugget Poker Room has 12 cash game tables. While Binions poker room has more tables (because of it’s 30 tournament tables), Golden Nugget has the highest number of cash game tables available in Downtown Las Vegas.

The Golden Nugget is considered to not just be the nicest poker room downtown, it is also the highest end downtown hotel and casino.

The Golden Nugget offers just one game. That game is a no cap 1/2 No Limit Texas Hold’em game with a $100 minimum buyin. Due to the fact that is slightly higher end and offers more cash game tables, the Golden Nugget poker room is normally the busiest of the three poker rooms found downtown.

Amenities in and Around the Poker Room

Even though the Golden Nugget Poker Room is the highest end poker room downtown, it still lacks in amenities. The poker room uses automatic shufflers and there are several TVs within the poker room. Other than that, there is little special to speak of within the Golden Nugget Poker Room. The restrooms are across the casino, and the sports book is even further. Players that leave to place a bet or use the restroom are guaranteed to miss hands.

Noise and Smoke Level

The noise and smoke level is low in the poker room. There is only one exterior wall to the casino floor, keeping most annoyances away. Tables along the rail can be smoky.

Comps

Players do not clock in while playing. Players that wish to receive a meal voucher can request one after about four hours of play. As with the El Cortez poker room, there is no poker player room rate at Golden Nugget.

Non Hold’em Games Offered

Unfortunately, the Golden Nugget Poker Room does not offer any non hold’em games.

Tournaments at the Golden Nugget

The Golden Nugget Poker Room offers six No Limit Texas Hold’em tournaments each day. The times are 11am, 3pm, 7pm, 10pm, 1am, and 4am. The buyin is $45+$20 for 4000 in starting chips. One $40 rebuy is allowed, which is also 4000 chips. The tournament has 20 minute levels. Every Sunday morning at 9am, there is a $77+$23 No Limit Texas Hold’em tournament. The starting stack is 10,000 chips. There is a $40 rebuy for 5000 chips. Levels are 30 minutes each.

During the summer, the Golden Nugget offers the Grand Poker Series. Each day there are two events. One event is a No Limit Texas Hold’em event. The other event is always a different game. These games include Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha, Fixed Limit Omaha, Omaha High/Low, Pot Limit Omaha High/Low, Seven Card Stud, Razz, and Seven Card Stud High/Low.

Getting on Waiting Lists

Golden Nugget uses the Genesis Bravo System, but does not participate in the Bravo Poker app, so information on the games currently running and waiting lists must be obtained by calling the poker room. They also do not announce games online. Players may only call the poker room to get on waitlists.

Location

The poker room is located on the southeast side of the Golden Nugget. When entering from Fremont Street, enter from the doors closest to Casino Center Blvd and walk straight back. From the main valet, take a right, and once on the casino floor take a right at the high limit slot area. From the Rush Tower valet, walk to the sports book area and turn right. Walk across the casino, and the poker room will be to the right of the casino cage.
