Playing loosely can be profitable, but again – in the right situations. When you play against a table full of weak or tight players, loose play is encouraged. However, when you play against a table full of loose players, often the correct approach is to play tighter and more selective.

Aggressive Poker

Aggressive players are more offensive minded players – full speed ahead. While generally it is better to be on offense than on defense, this does not mean one should only have one gear or one direction in which they proceed. Again, it is appropriate to know your opposition. If a player is inclined to bluff into you, an aggressive posture often leaves the bluff artist unable, or unwilling to run a bluff. Passive Strategy

Many people like to play slower or more passive in poker. The problem often encountered by passive players is that they allow the field to catch up, or “get there.” Additionally, passive players tend to fold far too often. While understanding when to fold in poker is paramount for long-term success, understanding that one should not always fold is just as clutch a concept to grasp.

While each playing style has its pros and cons, one should clearly note that any single playing style has its time and place. A winning poker player understands this, and adjusts accordingly.
